I would love to see an overall look change of the tool in-terms of branding and naming etc. bot the code UI part that it till now perfect
There is this question of collaboration with StackBlitz. Will we or will we not run in other direction.
Some unasnwered question there.
Their last commit was a month ago. And they have already added a lot of features in their commercial distro. I wonder if they are going to share that code too. If not, We should definitely move in our own direction
I think we should brand to oTToDev regardless of what may happen in the future, I feel like the amount of effort and passion about this project deserves its own face.
I also agree, I am really thankful to the StackBlitz team for laying the foundation for such awesome tool and sharing that with the OS community. but I am doubtful that they will be releasing that many features to the OS and will always be lagging behind. which is understandable.
so I also believe this project should have its own branding and ways it can standout
@ColeMedin is in communication with them and we have decisions to make in that regard.
There is possibility that official repo will be give to OS community with some minimal oversight from StackBlitz + sponsorship from them.
But I am split on weather its good or bad. It has its pros and cons. We need more communication in that regard. May be bigger call with StackBlitz guys to clear up things.
I appreciate your thoughts guys @thecodacus, @lassecapel!
First Stackblitz has confirmed they won’t be sharing all features of the commercial version and bringing those into the open source repo. Unfortunate.
What @wonderwhy.er mentioned is just us working with them for any possibility of collaboration, nothing fleshed out at all but I do agree that it would probably make sense to make sure we keep our own branding around what we are building together!
The Stackblitz team has shown great generosity by sharing their codebase. They deserve our heartfelt appreciation for their contributions. At the moment, they are heavily focused on their commercial pursuits, which may limit their availability for further community contributions in the near future.
In light of this, I humbly suggest that we forge our own path. The oTToDev community is brimming with passion and potential, and it would be a shame to let it go to waste. While Stackblitz might continue to provide critical bug-fixes, we can incorporate those as they come.
We cannot afford to be passive and wait for their generosity. oTToDev’s growth and success are inevitable, driven by the enthusiasm and dedication of its users. Together, we can achieve great things.
I went though and branded it with oTToDev if anyone would like to take a look.
