Before committing resources, we’d appreciate the community’s input:
Is swapping WebContainer for Sandpack/Nodebox technically feasible in bolt.diy?
Has anyone done this? What was your experience?
What major challenges or limitations should we expect (e.g., Node API differences, performance, feature parity)?
Are we missing any key considerations or making incorrect assumptions about Sandpack (including its own commercial terms)?
Any guidance or shared experiences would be extremely helpful.
solid observation. i think the biggest issue is stackblitz is supporting the team developing bolt.diy so there is no incentive to pursue switching the infra. you have to go at it yourself to get this done. i already started working on it myself but it’s a complex task. also, webcontainer product is commercial so if you are planning on launching a product or using this for your business just pay for it it’s worth it.
Appreciate your response. Can you please share your details about your attempts/thoughts so far? What is ‘complex’ about it? Are you using all the code in Bolt.diy EXCEPT webcontainer? How does the licensing work or would there be some legal issues with stackblitz down the line? Love to collaborate on this if you are open.
