Get better quality websites on Bolt.diy with this workaround

I discovered Bolt.diy 2 days ago and I’ve been playing with it nonstop. Especially with creating sites. One thing I noticed was the website output is usually very low quality or cheap looking.

Thanks to Bolt.diy I was introduced to Bolt.new and Lovable just yesterday. I played around with them and noticed the significant difference in their much higher quality than Bolt.diy.

Needless to say I ran out of credits within 2 prompts of using Bolt.new. So I made my way to Lovable and to my surprise you get 5 free credits daily.

With that being said, I discovered a neat little trick for getting higher quality sites in Bolt.diy.
This workaround is for you if you don’t have $$$ to put into Bolt.new just yet, or just simply would rather not spend money.

  1. Start by creating a website on Lovable. You want to be as thorough as possible in your initial prompt. Your goal is to use as few credits as possible. My goal has been only 1 to 2 credits per project.

  2. Once you’re happy enough with the preview, push the project to your GitHub account.

  3. Next, download the zip file from GitHub and unzip it on your computer.

  4. Head over to Bolt.diy, create a new project, and upload the files you just unzipped.

  5. Now you can continue working on that same project using Gemini.

The cool part is that it builds on the styling from Lovable, so you’re starting with a nice, polished look right from the beginning. And yes, even pictures show up on Bolt.diy this way.
And with it being Gemini, it’s 100% free at the moment so that’s cool.

Thanks for the Info.

Addition: You can also just use every template you find and use this as starter template. Then you also got a good base for your project and dont need loveable/credits:

Example:

bolt.diy Workaround for using every template you want from git:

http://localhost:5173/git?url=https://github.com/YZarytskyi/react-voice-visualizer.git

Just replace the URL with the one for your template and it will import it into the webcontainer.
