Auth0 vs SupaBase

Hello, I just signed up here. Random question, the author uses Auth0 for user authentication, I am curious for this site why would that decision be made (given high cost of Auth0) over using SupaBase Auth, or Auth.js which would seem more apropos. Just rethinking now if I should be looking more deeply at my user signups…

Great question! Auth0 integrates with a lot of different platforms (including this forum through Discourse and the Live Agent Studio I built with Next.js), so it’s a way for us to have a universal login so users only have one shared account across everything.

Supabase authentication is great and I’d in general recommend it. It just doesn’t integrate with Discourse and some other third party platforms we might be using in the future with oTTomator.
